Labor Day Excursion

Happy belated Labor Day to friends near and far!!

I wanted to take a moment to share some highlighs from a recent "ladies only" camping trip/weekend getaway. As you all know, all the Loveshack ladies (plus me, the honorary resident) are quite outdoorsy, and we felt no need to seek out a tent for our expedition. So... we loaded up all of our supplies (one lighter, sleeping bags, a tarp, and lots of snacks) and took to the open road.

When we arrived at our campsite (we found it this time with no trouble Ben) it was instantly apparent that our campsite was already in use by our next door neighbors. Luckily, Lindsay saw this as an opportunity to make new friends, and these new friends were more than happy to move their camp 6 feet back onto their side (their tent remained, however).

We successfully built a fire after an intense search for firewood (which resulted in a pile of twigs). Luckily, our new neighbors/friends took pity on us and shared their firewood and lighter fluid. In retrospect, it would have been nice to have Hotfingersthumper, Wolverine, and Gusty along to help, but our weekend really was about the girls becoming one with nature.

After dinner, campfire songs, and s'mores, we settled into our sleeping bags for a night under the stars. It was nice to know that our new friends were nearby, just in case of an emergency (our tarp was maybe 5 feet from their tent).

After breakfast the next morning, we had a photo shoot, which included a number of team building activities and ended with a human pyramid. We then packed up and went on a 35 mile hike, which we completed in one hour. We caught a frog, got lost, forded a river, found a dirty dancing log, and regretted our decision to wear flip flops when hiking.

We ended our weekend getaway at the beach, where Bev introduced me to the Twilight book series. It's about vampires. I'm ending this post abruptly because I want to go finish it.

Maybe Bev will post some pictures from the trip sometime, since I'm not very good at storytelling/blogging, and we all know that a picture speaks a million words.

Until next time,
Alyssa
